How did you decide which Janome to buy? I have a Designer SE and I recently bought the 11000 because of the attached embroidery arm for the ease of embroidery. What do you love most about your Janome?

I have the JANOME 300E. This is a stand alone embroidery machine. I had read several reviews on the machine. Also it was strongly recommended by several friends.
I love the EASE OF USE. Easy to thread and just plain easy to use and very quiet.
The dealer I purchased from offers LIFETIME CLASSES for as long as I own the machine. I can even go and take other embroidery classes if I care too. I don't have to take classes that pertain to just my machine.
I really like my embroidery machine and the stitch quality is beyond comparison. Now I'm thinking about purchasing a Janome serger.

I just bought a 350E in March and I LOVE it.
Over 10 years ago I bought a Janome 5700 and used it hundreds of times without ever having a problem with the machine. It still works like the day I bought it.
Since all my downloaded freebies and many design purchases are all in the "sew format" and from using my old machine I was able to start sewing the minute I got the new 350E out of the box. I am now changing to the "jef format".
Even the software was very familar to me from using the previous versions. I am not overwhelmed at all. Its user friendly.
My favorite item is the Clothsetters that allowed me to be on target everytime I needed a design to be exactly where I wanted it to be. This I have to be honest was very confusing at first but after using it so long I coudn't sew without it.
Since the purchase I have made squares for 3 quilts. Thats about 90 designs.
The machine sews them out great. As I am sewing out one design my mind is thingking about the next one. My problem is I love making the squares but hate putting them together!

I am looking into the 11000. Have you had a chance to try it out? What is your opinion on this model?

I love my 11000. I have had it since fall of 2005, in fact I was in New Orleans when it was shown to all. I loved my 10000 and hated to part with it, but this 11000 is just awesome. I love the cd so I can pop in the cd with designs and start stitching. It will not work with some cs's because of install prgrams etc on the cd, but works with most. The quality of embroidery is fabulous. It is actaully an easy macine to use. I admit there is a bit of learning involved, but so worth it.

I purchased the MC6600 about 6 months ago. I was looking at another brand that was very expensive. Someone suggested I try Janome and I knew there was a local dealer nearby. I feel in love with my machine after testing it for the first time. I tried Bernina, Viking, Elna and Pfaff but for all the features that the 6600 has, it is the best buy of all the brands. I love the stitch quality, and the smooth quiet acurate sewing of Janome. I love the Acufeed too. I have sewn 5 quilts and 4 purses since buying this machine.

I've had my Janome 10001 since Jan of 04 and I still love it. It's just the all around perfect machine. The only thing I've really had a problem with is the needle threader but it's ok currently (knock on wood). I still feel like I haven't even broken it in. I have 7 machines total and this has been the best. Not that the others aren't good. I waited 30 years for this machine. And feel very lucky to have it. I've been sorta of interested in the 11000 but for the few more things it does not worth the $5000 upgrade for me. I'm so glad they started this forum. It's nice to talk to other Janome owners.

I have owned Janome since 1988 (it was then known as New Home/Janome). The first machine is still in use - I gave it to a friend. I bought the MC8000, then the MC10000 and now have the MC 11000. It is easy to use, the embroideries are gorgeous, and it is just a lot of fun! I sew usually every day for at least 6 hours at a time. I am a true Janome lover and have sent quite of few (15) of my friends to our local dealer and each one of them has purchased a Janome. What is sew (!) great is that there is a machine for every person and every need.

I have a Janome 10000 I purchased in 03, I love it never thought I would have a machine like that. Previously I bought a used Brother which was good to but after I saw the 10000 I had to get it. I would love to have the 11000 but can't justify the cost. It runs quiet and the fact you don't have a separate embroidery attachment is really handy. I probably haven't used all of the features but do lots of embroidery. I just wish I could sew all the time, even though I am retired time slips away. Anyway I would highly recommend Janome. Which ever model, I don't know if buying a separate emb. machine and sewing machine would be beneifical or not, guess that is a matter of preference. I like to keep an eye on the machine as it is embroidering.
Good luck. Text

I'm thrilled with my 11000! Enjoyed having the the 9000, 10001 and now the 11000. Have gone to Martha Pullen's School of Art Fashion twice and have used other brands...Pfaff, Babylock, Brother, and Viking and a Janome sews just as well, embroiders as nicely and is as user friendly as any I've tried.
To answer the question, I bought my first Janome because there is a Janome/ Viking dealer in my area. After trying both machines, I decided that the Janome was a better value - I didnt' see much difference between the two brands and the Janome was cheaper. I've never regretted that decision!
I just embroidered a white jeans jacket that I picked-up on sale. Because of the clothsetter, I was able to place the designs ...PERFECTLY...exactly where I wanted them. Used the twin needle sewing feature to put a decorative design on the cuff and I've gotten nothing but compliments ...in fact, people can't believe I didn't buy it already embroidered!
One other nice feature is having the embroidery element attached to the machine so you don't have to carry it with you when going to classes. I do miss the attachment for sewing straight seams (the name escapes me) that is not a feature on the 11000.
Love the machine...

I bought my Janome 11000 in December of 2006, I have been sewing and embroidering all different types of projects and I love the machine. The thing I liked the most was it is an all in one machine. I find it very easy to use and every day I am learning about some other features that I didn't know it had.
This is the first major purchase of a sewing machine that I ever made and don't regret it at all. I look forward to finding a new project to work on.

I have the Janome 9500 and I love it! Before having this machine though, I had a little Brother PE 170 which was embroidery only. They are both very user friendly as far as embroidery but the Brother runs faster. It takes me about 10 minutes longer to do a design-depending on the design though-on my Janome than it did on my Brother. That's the only thing I'm not really happy with is that the Janome doesn't sew nor embroider very fast. All in all though, I got a lot of machine for my money and it does a very nice job.
The best thing to do is go to all the dealers around your house and stitch on them all that you would be interested in buying. Then make your decision.

I've had Janome machines for approx 30 years and each one is better than the last. I owned a Bernina prior and while it was OK, it seems they are not the same these days. Anyway I've been more than satisfied with my Janomes, having owned the 6000 for many, many years, then a 9000 and now a 10001 and 9500 along with a 3018 (old workhorse), Compulock and CoverPro 1000 and wouldn't part with any of them.
When the 11000 was released I went to the local dealer for a demo, but wasn't allowed to touch the machine, nor see it make ONE stitch....had to buy it untested!! No way!! I knew more about the machine from the online demo DVD than the lady at the dealer's but I wanted to see some embroidery samples. Anyway I left dejected and decided to keep my 10001 and bought a slightly used Compulock and CoverPro 1000 instead. Neither was from this dealer, although I did go back there for further info which they weren't able to provide. They would not order a demo model for the shop and I had to pay upfront for a machine, so I decided to buy preloved and if it wasn't what I expected then it would be relisted on eBay, but I was more than happy with both machines and they are get used almost every day.
No classes have ever been available through the dealer and when I did have a few problems with my 10001 they weren't helpful either, so I went over their heads and to the Janome state office, where I got fabulous service because I was planning to jump ship and go with another manufacturer. So pleased I didn't!!
A separate embroidery module would drive me bonkers, I just love the inbuilt unit. All round a happy Janome owner!!

Before I started buying my Janome machines, I had several Kenmores. My first real Janome was a MC5700 which I dearly loved, then bought the MC10000, upgraded to the MC10001. Now I have a MC11000 which I bought in October 05, just after I had been to the Janome Institute in New Orleans. I love the ease of switching from sewing to embroidery, the user friendly screen and the way it sews and embroiders. I also have a little Janome Jem Gold 2 which is great.
The software programs that I have are Customizer 11000 and DigiPro. They are so easy to use. I have looked at other machines and in my book, none compares with the Janome.

Hi, LeoLioness--
I had owned strictly Singer sewing machines before my purchase of the 9000. Janome beats Singer hands down! Stitch quality and dependability mean all the difference in the world! I am really "Picky" when it comes to buttonhole quality and good stitch quality. This is why I have remained a Janome machine owner. It is so easy to use and so dependable.
About 4-5 yrs. ago I purchased a Janome 9000 (first-time Janome owner). It was a workhorse!
About 2-1/2 yrs. ago I upgraded to a 10,001. Love it! The reason I wanted to upgrade was because of the embroidery feature--I wanted to expand its uses and my usage of embroidery. .. ..had I wanted to remain in "general sewing," I would have kept the Memorycraft 9000. The main reason I upgraded to ANOTHER Janome was because of my past experience with a Janome, plus I wanted to learn and use more of the embroidery features.
Since then I have purchased the Brother PR-600 II 6-needle semi-commercial embroidery machine. Digitizer Pro can still support my Brother machine, for most features on the Brother. (I own a home-based machine quilting/machine embroidery/home dec business).
If I had to do it again, I would STILL purchase another Janome. They are far superior to other brands on the market!

Betsy, I really have to agree with you on the buttonholes!!! They are very important to me. When I make one, I want it to look very professional. With the Brother and Singer machines I've had, I never had one that made nice buttonholes like my Janome. Janomes buttonholes are just awesome!!!

Could anyone give me advice about what models I might want to be looking at if I want decorative stitches plus alphabets? Not concerned about other embroidery features. Thanks!
