Issue # 20 - Janome Digest Magazine Celebrates Its 20th Issue | Order Now

The cover project is a stylish White Lily Shirt & Crop Pants ensemble. Based on an easy Butterick pattern, Janome embroidery adds a touch of elegance to this casual and comfortable outfit. Other White Lily projects include beautiful embroidered pillowcases, elegant placemats, a poetic throw pillow, and the two lovely girls’ dresses featured on the front of the Card’s packaging (complete instructions are online at www.janome.com).

We also used the Card to redo an entire bathroom. First you’re taken step-by-step through creating an embroidered valance and matching curtains. Then you’re shown how to take ordinary towels and a bathmat in coordinating colors and transform them into a matching custom set. Included are tips for embroidery on thick terrycloth.

You learned how to draw as a child with stick figures. Now our Stick Figure Family will help you learn how to digitize and combine designs. Created by Janome Software Support Coordinator, Karen Varinecz, these classic characters can go on a tote bag, sweatshirt, shop apron, or anywhere you want embroidery that will make you smile. Karen’s stick family includes Man, Woman, Boy, Girl, Baby, Cat, and Dog. You can download them from the Design Downloads section of www.janome.com in .BMP, .JEF, and .SEW formats. Also online, in the Lessons section, are step-by-step instructions for digitizing these designs. Look for the newest software lesson “Digitizing A Stick Figure.”

Issue No. 20 also shows how to use your serger to make four different dress-up costumes to keep any little girl busy all summer long: Prima Ballerina, Glamorous Movie Star, Fairytale Princess, and Blushing Bride. Make the hat, wrap, veil, even the ballerina shoes to complete each costume. With a Janome serger and step-by-step instructions, it’s fast and easy.

In “Quilting Tips & Tricks To Try” you can practice various stitches so you’re ready to use them on your next project. Learn new tricks for Patchwork, Appliqué, Quilting, and Crazy Quilting.
