Lesson 15 - Creating Points
When digitizing leaves or other objects that come to a point, it is difficult to get reference points close enough at the tip to create a point. This lesson will show how to combine digitizing tools to create points.
We will open the Flower bitmap to digitize the leaves.

The Open dialog box will appear. Click the Flower bitmap in the Embroidery Album once to see it in the Preview box. Click Open to bring the bitmap to the design screen.

Magnify the leaf on the right side to 750%.
Our plan is to digitize the leaf with satin stitches using the Turning Angle Fill tool. We will walk out from the stem to the leaf tip with running stitches and begin the satin stitch.
Click the Run Line tool.

Click the Thread (Current Color) icon.

(In order to see the embroidery better, we are going to leave the thread the default red color. You may choose to change to #218 Yellow Green to match the leaf.)
Click reference points from the stem to the leaf tip. Press Enter to generate the embroidery.

Click the Turning Angle Fill tool.

Click the Object Details icon.

Click the Fill Stitch tab. Click the Satin Fill radio button to create satin stitches instead of the default weave stitches. Click OK.

Click points from the tip of the leaf to the stem. Notice that the two points at the tip of the leaf were too far apart to create a point on the leaf.

Click Undo to remove the satin stitching on the leaf. Click Undo a second time to remove the run stitches.

Click the Run Line tool.
Click reference points through the leaf, this time stopping about one eighth the way down from the leaf tip.

Magnify the tip of the leaf to 1500% by clicking the plus magnifying glass.

Click a triangle of points starting at the right side, then the left side, to the tip, then back to the first point.

Press Enter to generate the embroidery.

Bring the magnification back to 750% by clicking the Minus Magnifying Tool.

Continue digitizing as before. Click the Turning Angle Fill tool. Click the first reference point where you ended the run line, at point 4. Continue to click reference points from the tip to the stem. Press Enter to generate the embroidery.

Press the number one (1) key on your keyboard. This is a quick way to bring the magnification back to 100%. You can see the leaf will sew with a point at the tip.
