Lesson 2 - Manual Digitizing - Digitize the Leaf
The first step in the plan is to digitize Leaf 1.
Magnify Leaf 1. (We used 400%.)
Click the Parallel Fill icon.

Click the Thread icon.

Click Orange #203.
Click the Object Details icon.

Click the Underlay tab. Change Underlay to Weave. Since the body of the leaf will be a weave stitch, the Weave Underlay will produce stitches perpendicular to the body stitches.
Click OK.
The stem of the leaf will be digitized separately using satin stitches. The stem of the leaf is very narrow. Weave stitches will put too many needle penetrations in a small area, causing thread breakage.
When we digitize, we are approximating the graphic. Be aware you will never get embroidery to look exactly like a graphic. We only try to get the illusion that the embroidery looks like the leaf.
There is no right way to digitize . Everyone will click reference points differently. And, you have a safety net in that if you don't like the way a point comes looks press the Backspace key to remove the point.
Remembering that left clicks of the mouse will form straight stitches and right clicks of the mouse will form curved stitches, begin digitizing anywhere on the leaf. Don't connect the last stitch to the first stitch.
When you are satisfied with the body of the leaf, press the Enter key. The embroidery will be generated.

Click the Select icon. The leaf will turn turquoise and eight anchor points will form around it.

Click the Reshape icon.

We need to see the Entry and Exit points for the leaf so we can make sure the embroidery will start sewing at the tip of the leaf and will stop sewing at the stem. The Exit Point, which looks like a plus sign, is the more important of the two points, because the embroidery must stop sewing at the stem. If it doesn't, Digitizer 10000 will sew a connecting run stitch over the leaf embroidery to get from the Exit Point to the stem, which will be the next object sewn.

If you need to move the points, slide your mouse cursor over the point until it becomes a four-way arrow. Click the points and drag them to their new position. In our case, we moved the Entry Point to the tip of the leaf and the Exit Point to where the Entry Point was.
Press the Enter key to regenerate the embroidery. Click the Stop icon or press the Esc key to deactivate Reshape.
Click the Turning Angle icon.

Click the Object Details icon.
Click the Fill Stitch tab. Click the Satin Fill radio button.

Click the Underlay tab. Change the underlay to Center Run. The stem is very narrow, so any other underlay will put too many stitches in a tiny area.
Click OK.
Magnify the stem.
Click a series of reference points along the stem. Left mouse clicks creates straight lines, right mouse clicks create curved lines.
