Lesson 13 - Manually Digitize Flower - 2 (Continued from Lesson 12

When digitizing manually, we magnify the graphic so we can easily see both the object and our digitizing.

Magnify one of the leaves by pressing the letter "B" key on your keyboard and at the same time, click a point above and to the left of one of the leaves. Drag a box around the leaf. When you release the mouse button, the leaf will be magnified.

We will now set the parameters to digitize.

Most digitizers will add some manual underlay to the objects they are digitizing, especially if the object is separate from other objects. We are planning for Digitizer 10000 to automatically generate Zigzag underlay to the leaves. So, we will first sew a center run and an edge run underlay.

Click the Run Line icon.

Click the Thread icon.

The Color Chart will appear. Click thread color 218 Yellow Green. Leave the Color Chart on the design screen to make it easier to change colors.

Click reference points around the inside of the leaf, beginning at the stem. Return to the stem and walk a line of points back to the tip of the leaf.

Press the Enter key to generate the run lines.

Click the Turning Angle Fill icon.

We must set the stitch type to satin stitch.

Click the Object Details icon.
Image
Click the Fill Stitch tab, if necessary. Click the Satin Fill radio button. Click OK.
Image
Click reference points along the leaf, beginning at the tip and ending within the stem. Place the reference points slightly outside the leaf, to compensate for the satin stitch pulling in.

Press the Enter key to generate the embroidery.

As we are digitizing, we need to keep in mind where the "maze box," or current stitch indicator is located. We want to begin sewing an object where the last object ended, so we don't have wide hoop swings that will slow down our embroidery.

The next step is to walk through the stem to the next leaf. To see the stem and leaf better, use the slide bars to position the bitmap.

Click the Run Line icon.

Click reference points from the stem of the first leaf to the stem of the second leaf.

Click reference points to create edge run and center run underlay. Press the Enter key to generate the embroidery.
Image
Click the Turning Angle Fill icon. Note that the fill stitch will remain satin fill until you change it.

Click reference points from the tip of the leaf to the stem. End the points within the flower stem. Press the Enter key to generate the leaf embroidery.
