This project is perfect for using up tiny scraps. It has a place for all your little sewing essentials - Janome red scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc. You could add some embroidery to your Chatterline for a more personalized touch. Betty developed this project for the Wade's group that she teaches at a local dealer's store. She called it Chatterline, because the Wade's gang is always "chatting online."

Instructions:
- Cut out all pattern pieces.
- With permanent marker or Janome embroidery thread create facial features--eyes, mouth, nose, cheeks.
- Turn hem under at dotted line of apron. Stitch in place.
- Layer apron wrong side to right side of jumper front. Place apron/jumper front right sides together with jumper lining.
- With all-purpose thread, stitch 1/8" seam for arm edges only.
Note: use 1.5 stitch length. Turn right side out. Press. Topstitch less than 1/8" from finished edge.
- Layer wrong side of jumper to right side of dress front.
Note: You will see right sides of both pieces. Pin side seams together matching raw edges. Notice that the jumper is wider than the dress. Lift hem of apron and dress to match raw edges. Topstitch across bottom only, through all three layers with a 5/8" seam allowance. Note: this line of stitching will close the bottom of the apron pockets.
- Stitch all side seams and shoulders together with less than 1/8" seam allowance. Cut away any excess at shoulder.
- Attach gloves on dress sleeves right sides together.
- Attach face at neckline right sides together.
- Layer right side of dress back to right side of jumper/dress front. Stitch 1/8" seam allowance from bottom edge of side seam to bottom edge of opposite side. Do not stitch across bottom. Turn right side out. Press.
- Use a zig-zag or decorative stitch to topstitch neckline closed. Add pearls or beads for a decorative finish.
- Fold arms down at shoulder toward back of dress so that hands are turned down. Stitch in place with a straight stitch across lower edge
- Pink bottom edges of dress and jumper.
- Place feet between jumper and dress, stitch in place or stitch completely across bottom edge. Note: For an added touch, you can insert a lace scrap for a hem finish.
- Fold ribbon in half and stitch center to top of head. Ribbon can be adjusted for desired length.
- Twist yarn, fold several times to fit head. Stitch along edges to hold hair in place. Cut and style hair in desired fashion. Note: For a personalized touch, design your own hat that can second as a mini pin cushion.
Enjoy!
