Embroidered Towels
1. Set up the Memory Craft 11000 Special Edition for professional-style embroidery. Attach the P foot, and thread the machine with Janome Acrylic Embroidery Thread and a Janome pre-wound bobbin.
2. To adjust the ‘trim’ function for lettering, select ‘Set’. Select the tab for hooped embroidery, and page forward to SET3. Adjust the minimum jump thread length to cut to 3.0mm. Press Register.
3. Select the Edit screen. Select Monograms. Change the font to Galant, and change the size to Large. Type in ‘Bon’, and press OK. Reduce the size to 90%, and move the lettering to the left of the hoop with the ‘feet’ of the letters resting on the red gridline.
4. Select Monograms, and type in ‘Appetit.’ Press OK.
5. Reduce the size to 90% and position the lettering to the right of the hoop, with the ‘feet’ of the letters resting on the red gridline. Adjust the spacing and position of the letters, if necessary.
6. Touch ‘Group’, and center the lettering on the Edit screen. Press OK.
7. Cut two strips of fabric from the coordinating tone-on-tone print, 2 1/2” x 22”. Mark the center of each strip.
8. Hoop sticky stabilizer with the paper side facing up. Score the paper and tear it away, exposing the sticky surface of the stabilizer.
9. Place the hoop on the machine. Position the strip of fabric under the needle, matching the needle position to the center mark of the strip of fabric. Press the fabric into place on the sticky stabilizer.
10. Embroider the lettering. Remove the hoop from the machine, and remove the excess stabilizer form the fabric.
11. Embroider the second strip to match.
12. Change the Memory craft 11000 Special Edition to ordinary sewing, Thread with all purpose thread, and attach the A foot.
13. Cut two 18” x 27” rectangles from the waffle weave fabric. Cut two strips 3” x 22” from the contrasting floral fabric.
14. Sew the embroidered strip to the 3” fabric strip, using a 1/4” seam. The lettering should be placed above the floral strip. Turn under the upper edge of the unit 1/4”, and press in place. Repeat for the second embroidered strip.
15. Sew the rick rack to one end of the waffle weave towel on the wrong side of the fabric, stitching down the center of the rick rack. Repeat for the second towel.
16. Place the right side of the fabric strip to the wrong side of the waffle weave towel, keeping the lettering centered. Sew along the line of stitching for the rick rack.
17. Fold the fabric strip to the front of the towel. The points of the rick rack should form the lower edge of the towel, and the fabric strips will make the border of the towel. Edge stitch in place. Repeat for the second towel. Trim excess fabric.
18. Hem the remaining edges of each towel with a 1/4” double turned hem.

Embroidered Pot Holder
1. Cut two 9” squares from the waffle weave fabric. Cut a 9” square of heat reflective craft fleece.
2. Cut a 3 1/2” x 9” rectangle from the contrasting floral print. Cut a 2 1/2” x 9” rectangle from the coordinating tone-on-tone print. Cut a 5 1/2” x 9” rectangle from the remaining waffle weave fabric and a matching 5 1/2” x 9” rectangle from the heat reflective craft fleece.
3. Set up the Memory Craft 11000 Special Edition for professional-style embroidery. Follow the instructions for the lettering on the towels, and embroider ‘Chaud!’ on the tone-on-tone rectangles. This is the word for Hot! in French.
4. Change the Memory Craft 11000 Special Edition to ordinary sewing and all purpose thread.
5. Sew the two print fabrics together with a 1/4” seam. The lettering should be along the upper edge.
6. Layer the rectangle of waffle weave fabric, the craft fleece and the embroidered strip. Baste around the edges. Sew bias tape to the upper edge of the rectangle.
7. Layer a square of waffle weave fabric, craft fleece and waffle weave fabric. Baste around the edges.
8. Place the embroidered rectangle over the waffle weave square, matching the raw edges. Leave the upper left corner square, but round the remaining corners. Sew bias tape around the potholder, starting at the square corner and continuing to stitch an additional 5” of bias tape for the loop. Fold the loop to the back of the potholder and stitch in place to secure.

ENJOY!
