This cute little bunny is the perfect companion for your candy filled Easter basket. He would just love to hop in and go to a loving home. He is lightweight and hand washable so he can be easily laundered and stored away for next year. This is a heart-warming project that does not take long to complete.
Janome Supplies Required:
- Any Janome machine
- Zig-zag foot A
- Blue Tip needle 75/11
Fabric and Notions Required:
- 12" x 20"piece of white flannel
- Fusible web
- 1" white pompom
- 7 mm pink pompom
- Fiberfil
- Small stuffing tool
- Blusher and brush
- Black fine tip permanent marking pen
- Craft filament (30 lb. test fishing line)
- All purpose thread
- Large eye long shank needle
- Hand sewing needle
- Fabric tack glue
- Seam sealant
Instructions:
- Select a Straight stitch. Adjust the length to 1.8. Be sure to sew on the lines where indicated.
- With right sides together, fold fabric in half.
- Trace one body, two ears and two feet.
- Sew on the lines where indicated. Be sure to leave open the bottom of the body and the ears. For the feet, sew all around, do not leave opening.
- Trace two ears on the fusible web. When cutting them out, cut inside the lines about 1/8".
- Fuse to ears.
- Press all pieces to set seams.
- Trimming close to the stitching, cut out all sewn pieces.
- Turn body right side out and stuff with Fiberfil.
- Close opening at bottom with hand sewing needle and thread.
- Make a small vertical slit at the bottom of each foot. Dab with seam sealant to prevent fraying.
- When sealant is dry, turn feet right side out and stuff.
- Close slits with hand sewing needle and thread.
- Adjust stitch length to 4.0.
- Sew toe separations.
- Turn ears right side out and press.
- Apply blush in center front of ears.
- Use a hidden running stitch to gather and close the opening for the ears.
- Attach ears to top of body.
- Apply glue to hand stitched area of feet. Attach to body.
- Apply glue to white pompom. Attach to body to form tail.
Note: Feet and tail should be attached so that bunny has perfect posture and stands independently.
- With the black pen, draw eyes and mouth.
- Apply glue to pink pompom. Attach for nose.
- Using the craft filament and the large eye needle, pass filament through body to make three whiskers. Do not knot thread, clip as needed.
- Dab a small amount of glue at base of whiskers to keep them from coming out. Trim to desired length.
- If desired, dab a small amount of glue to the ears so they remain close together.
