Use this great organizer on the edge of your favorite chair, or anywhere you love to sew, to keep all your tools at the ready!

Janome Tools Required

Any Janome machine with decorative stitches (Maddie used the Marie Osmond 200)
Even Feed Foot (walking foot)
¼” Foot “O”
Satin Stitch Foot “F”
Ditch Quilting foot “S” 
One spool Janome embroidery thread in color to match fabrics
One Empty bobbin

Fabric and Notions Required

1 – 8” x 20” canvas
2 – 10” x 8” solid cotton for tall front pocket and tall back pocket
1 – 6” x 8” solid cotton for short front pocket
1 – 7” x 11” Print cotton for pin cushion
1 – 36” x ¼” piece of ribbon
1 Cup Fiberfil
1 package of black color double folded bias tape (1 ½ yards required)
Cutting mat
Rotary Cutter
12” Quilting ruler
Marking chalk or soap
Straight pins
Scissors
Stuffing tool (Chopstick or pencil)

Create and Save Stitch Patterns

1. Select Mode 3 -stitch #55 , select “M” memory to activate the combination function. Select edit.


2. Select the mirror image button.





3. Select Mode 2 - stitch #73, then select “M”.

4. Save in memory bank #1. Note – to save press the Memory In/Out button, M1 should be displayed and then press “M” to save in the memory bank.

    

5. Delete stitches “C”
6. Select Mode 2 stitch #31, select “M” memory.
7. Select stitch #75, select “M” memory.
8. Save in memory bank #2. Note – to get to Bank “M2”, press the Memory In/Out button again.



9. Delete stitches “C”
10. Select Mode 3 stitch #59, select “M” memory.
11. Select “M” memory again to duplicate stitch.
12. Select “Edit” and then select mirror image tab.
13. Save in memory bank #3.



14. Fold all small pieces in half with wrong sides together and finger press.



15. Select Mode 1, stitch #1 straight stitch. Attach ¼” foot.



16. Take the print piece of cotton for the pincushion, fold it in half, right sides together and sew along the long raw edge. Back stitch to lock seam in place. Turn right side out.
17. Find the center of the canvas base (10”) and pin one side of the pincushion tube of fabric to one side of the canvas. Do not pin opposite raw edge to other side, it will be stuffed and attached later. Set aside.



18. Take the small pocket piece.
19. Attach the Satin Stitch foot “F”
20. Retrieve stitch pattern from Memory bank #1.


21. Using the Start/Stop button, stitch close to the folded edge. When at the end of the fabric press the reverse button to lock the stitches.



22. Take one of the larger pocket pieces.
23. Retrieve stitch pattern from memory bank #2. Note – to retrieve from memory bank #2, press the memory in/out button again.
24. Stitch close to the folded edge.



25. Take the remaining larger pocket piece.
26. Retrieve stitch pattern from memory bank #3.
27. Stitch close to the folded edge.


28. Arrange pockets on canvas.


29. Place ribbon ends approximately 7 ½” from the bottom of the canvas on the long sides where the short and long pockets are located.


30. Select Mode 2 stitch #36, the straight stitch, adjust stitch length to 2.6 and needle position to 7.0.
31. Baste all around base to secure pockets, ribbon ends and ONE end only of the pin cushion tube. (The ribbon will hold the spool of thread.)
32. Once all pieces are properly arranged and basted, stuff the pin cushion tube to about 1” away from the sewn edge. Note – use a pin to stop the stuffing at both ends.


33. Baste other end of pin cushion tube in place.
34. Select Mode 1 stitch #5. (#5 on the keypad)
35. Mark pocket sections as follows
a. Side with short pocket mark 1 ½” in from long side, mark 4 ½”in from same long side.
b. Side with tall pocket mark 4” in from long side.


36. Attach Ditch Quilting foot “S”.
37. Sew pocket divisions using the blade as a guide..
38. Select Mode 2 stitch #72, adjust stitch width to 7.0.


39. Attach the even feed foot (walking foot).
40. Secure bias tape to all four sides of the Buddy.
41. Stitch bias tape to Buddy. Note – either fold under raw end of tape or stitch to fit.
42. Cut ribbon so that one side is approximately 14” long.
43. Slide the spool of thread on the longer section of ribbon and tie ends in a bow!
