Janome Supplies Required

Memory Craft 11000, 10001, 10000, 9500, 300E (embroidery only)
Any Janome serger
Clothsetter
Free Arm Hoop
Embroidery foot P
Cording foot A
Janome Metallic thread #M229
(Powder Blue)
Janome Overlock thread
Janome Pre-Wound bobbins (Black)
Janome Tearaway stabilizer
Blue Tip needle 75/11
Serger needle Size 11

Fabric and Notions Required

8"x 8" square magenta silk fabric
2"x 40" length turquoise silk fabric
Madeira® Rayon Embroidery thread (Jade #1293, Turquoise #1295, Marigold #1137, Cerise #1310)
Elastic band
Fishing line

Rolled Hem
1. Set up the serger for a Rolled Hem.
2. Thread the needle and lower looper with Janome Overlock thread. Thread the upper looper with Janome Metallic thread #M229 (Powder Blue).
3. Attach the Cording foot A.
4. Insert fishing line into the guide on the cording foot.
5. Serge a rolled hem around the 8" magenta square.
6. Serge a Rolled Hem finish along both long edges of the turquoise silk strips to create a 11⁄2" ribbon.
7. Serge across the short ends at a 45° angle to complete the ribbon.

Professional-Style Embroidery
1. Set up the Memory Craft for Professional-Style Embroidery.
2. Select Embroidery Mode.
3. Select a design from the Built-In Designs.
4. Mark the crosshair for the design at each corner of your square 2" in from the corner and placed at a 45° angle.


5. Place stabilized fabric in the Free Arm Hoop using the Clothsetter for perfect placement.
6. Stitch design.
7. Pace your gift in the center of the square and gather the fabric around it.
8. Secure with an elastic band then tie your turquoise silk ribbon in a double bow to cover the band.
