Lettering

EasyGigaHoop provides the ability to place lettering in your design.

EasyGigaHoop provides the ability to place lettering in your design. There are three font styles, Gothic, Old English and Script. Each font style has three sizes, Gothic 10, 18, and 30 mm, Old English and Script 10, 20, and 30 mm.

To access the Lettering function, click the Monogram icon.

The Monogram dialog box will appear.

There's a lot going on in this dialog box, and it provides a lot of options in producing text.

The first thing to do is type text in the Lettering/Numbers box at the top. Then, choose a font and size from the drop-down Font box.

Image

Now, choose spacing from the drop-down Spacing box. Spacing controls how much space will be placed between letters. The spacing you choose will depend on the lettering size, the font you choose, and the placement area.

The next option is the orientation. When the first orientation is chosen, each letter is independent, and can be moved separately by clicking on it and dragging it.

Image

When the second orientation is chosen, letters are produced on a horizontal line. A red indicator is placed at the beginning and end of the line. When the indicators are clicked and dragged, the lettering can be reoriented to diagonal and/or re-spaced.

Image

The third orientation creates arced lettering. There are three red indicators on the line that when dragged, will create rainbow arcing, smile arcing, and changes in letter spacing.

You must click the Register icon to produce the lettering on the Stitch View Screen.

If you would like to change the color of the lettering, click the Color button at the left corner of the bottom of the dialog box. The Monogram Color dialog box will appear.

Image

Click the thread color you choose for your lettering. Click OK. The lettering will be changed to the chosen color.

When you are ready to place the lettering on the design screen, click OK. A Confirmation box will appear. It is asking if it should save the current design, which is the lettering you just produced. Normally, you do not need to save the lettering separately, so you would click No.

Image

However, if you must save the lettering separate from the design you are creating, click Yes. A Save As dialog box will appear, where you can name your lettering as a separate file and save it for future use.

Image

Whether you save your lettering separately or not, it will now generate on the design screen surrounded by a black box. Clicking on the center of the black box will allow you to drag the lettering into your desired position.

Note that there are circles at the four corners of the black box. Sliding your mouse cursor over any one of the corner circles will change your mouse cursor into a double arrow. You can then click and drag, inward to make the box and the lettering smaller, or outward to make the box and the lettering larger. Remember, however, you are not changing the stitch count of the lettering. You are only making the stitches closer together or further apart.
