Sewing Sequence with Slow Redraw

A useful feature of DigitizerPro is the Slow Redraw process. It allows you to travel through the design - that is, watch on the screen how the embroidery will be sewing on your embroidery machine.

What you'll learn
A useful feature of DigitizerPro is the Slow Redraw process. It allows you to travel through the design - that is, watch on the screen how the embroidery will be sewing on your embroidery machine.
To demonstrate this feature, we will use the Kissing Swans design that we created in Lesson #8.
Note:The Slow Redraw process cannot be used if the design is showing on the screen in realistic view. If you are viewing your design this way, click the Visualizer icon to toggle it off. The Slow Redraw icon will activate.

1. Press the number 1 key on your keyboard to magnify the design screen to 100%. This will make it easier to see the design.
2. Click the Slow Redraw icon. It is the last icon on the Standard toolbar.

The Slow Redraw dialog will appear.
Click the start button to watch the design sew.
You can control the speed of the sewout through the slider bar.

Click on the slider and drag it left to slow the number of stitches per second.
Click on the slider and drag it right to increase the speed.

3. There are two options boxes in the Slow Redraw dialog.

  • HideBefore - you can travel through a design and stop the current stitch indicator (the "maze box" - please take a look at lessons #21 and 119) at any point in the embroidery design. For example, in the Kissing Swans design, you could travel forward in the design until you get to the first feather. You could then turn on Slow Redraw and begin the sewout from that point. If you click the HideBefore option, you will not see any of the objects that were traveled through.
  • AutoScroll - this feature lets you see the area that is being "sewn out" even when the design is magnified and is larger than the design screen.

4. To see AutoScroll in action, click the Zoom In icon to magnify the design to 200%

5. Click a check mark in AutoScroll.

6. Click Start. AutoScroll will move the design so that areas of the embroidery that are off the design screen will show on the design screen as it is traveling through.
7. By observing how a design is going to sew, you can prepare for trimming when you actually sew it. In the Kissing Swans design, we combined thread colors to minimize thread changes, but there will be thread trails from the swan on the right to the swan on the left. There will be no surprises at the embroidery machine.
