zig zag stitching
New user just learning how to use this machine. PROBLEM: Zig-zag stitches appear reversed in that stitching looks like perfect zig-zag on wrong side of fabric but on front side looks terrible. Can the stitching be upside down on this feature? Doesn't seem possible but that's what it looks like.

No. I think that your tension is off. Try rethreading your machine both the top and bobbin. Change your needle and make sure the needle size matches your fabric ie: not to big if you are sewing on fine fabric - usually a 12 or 14 is pretty good. If that doesn't work try tightening your top tension a wee bit - you'll need to experiment. Just remember where the tension was to start.
What machine are you using? It helps to have more information.

If your machine is brand new, check with your dealer and get a lesson on your machine. If it is a used machine that you purchased or inherited, it might need to be serviced by your local dealer.
