    Machine Review and Free Pattern!

Janome Artisan Caroline Hulse of Sew Caroline always wanted a machine that has both sewing and built-in embroidery options. When we asked her to test drive the new Skyline S9, she was so excited!

Caroline’s daughter is a little over a year old and loves getting special items monogrammed for her. The embroidery function on the Skyline S9 was perfect for Caroline to create beautiful monogrammed letters.

Caroline mentions in her review that the Skyline S9 works like a charm. Her favorite features are the full color LCD touch screen, the low thread alert for the bobbin, the notification on when to change the presser feet along with the other great easy convenience features. Caroline loved how simple it was for her to switch from regular sewing to embroidery.

Using the Skyline S9, Caroline made a pair of adorable Blousy Baby Bloomers with her daughter’s name embroidered on the back.  Click here to read Caroline’s full review and check out her oh-so-cute project for her daughter! She also included a free Blousy Bloomers sewing pattern.

    By Milinda Stephenson

"I love Downtown Abbey, especially when the camera pans a sunny bedroom and then closes in on lovely Edwardian linens replete with Cluny lace and intricate hand embroidery. My own grandmother was born in 1899 and by 1915 when my favorite novel Annie Laura's Triumph takes place, she was embroidering gorgeous linen hand towels and dresser scarves and edging them with delicate crochet.

I cannot hand embroider like my grandmother, but my Janome Skyline S9 can! I embroidered these cotton towels with built-in monograms and added the Cluny lace I ordered from the original factory in England. While my kitchen and bathroom towels aren't hand embroidered, I think they are going to make great gifts!" - Milinda Stephenson of Milinda Sews

    By Sandi Sawa Hazlewood

After falling in love with the art of quilting while sewing on hand-me-downs, Sandi Sawa Hazlewood of Crafty Planner decided to buy her own machine. Her first Janome was the Memory Craft 7700QCP and then she purchased the Hello Kitty 11706 as a travel machine.  When we asked her to give the new Horizon Memory Craft 9400 a try, she could not wait!

Sandi’s favorite MC9400 features are the bright LED lighting that helps when you are sewing at night; the fast Superior Needle Threader and the low thread alert in the bobbin. The features that did not making Sandi’s sewing as fun were that you have to really make sure the feet are secured tight, she mentions in her review that two needles accidentally broke; the food pedal compared the the MC7700 machine is shorter and the light under the throat gets hot over time.

Sandi encourages every quilter who is looking for a new machine to give the MC9400 a try! She made a gorgeous Composition Book Cover with the 9400 for those who are in school or are teaching.

    By Felicia Brenoe

A few months ago, we asked Janome Artisan Felicia Brenoe of Felicia’s World to try out the new Skyline S9 sewing and embroidery machine. Felicia couldn’t wait to give the machine a go! It has been up and running in Felicia’s sewing room for a few weeks now and she continues to learn more each time she works with it.

Some of Felicia’s favorite machine qualities on the Skyline S9 is the set up process; the LCD Touchscreen and easy navigation buttons; smooth and quiet operation; sturdiness and standard accessories.

Felicia recommends the Skyline S9 to anyone looking to explore the possibilities of machine embroidery as well as sew garments, home décor and quilts without making a massive investment in a top-of-the-line machine.
