Whether you have a top-of-the-line sewing machine or an economy model, the most important tool used is the sewing machine needle. The sewing life of a needle is 8 hours. In that time, the point will become worn and stitch quality may become compromised. Keep a variety of needles on-hand to change regularly. A good rule of thumb is to use a new needle at the start of every project.

Janome Educator Nancy Fielder provided a helpful tutorial on getting to know the needles you use when making sewing, embroidery or quilting projects.

    Four New Colorful Quilts

After we launched the 100 Quilt Blocks in 50 Days project, we introduced four new quilt patterns during late December into early January. These quilts cover four categories; beginner, intermediate, traditional and modern. They showcase the beautiful fabrics that were included in the Michael Miller fabric bundle that was part of the Skyline promotion - providing you a different quilt option if you were not interested or did not have the time to participate in the 100 Quilt Blocks in 50 Days project.

The Rainbow Star quilt by Janome Freelance Educator Kelley McKenzie features a wonderful traditional quilt pattern. Joanna Marsh of Kustom Kwilts made our colorful modern quilt, Crayon Box. The Wonky Stars quilt made by Janome Freelance Educator Katy Mitchell features a beautiful beginner pattern and the Navajo Sampler made by Janome Freelance Educator Danielle Wilkes provides an intermediate quilt option with a fun southwestern twist.

Vote now for your favorite quilt for a chance to win the 100 Quilt Block Michael Miller Fabric Bundle. All quilts include full instruction downloads. Make these colorful quilts today, it will brighten everyone's day!
