You may have heard of an interesting technique called "couching". It uses stitches to tack down a piece of thread, yarn, etc. to create a unique look and texture. Couching can be found on embroidery projects, art quilts and some quilters even use couching to quilt with. This great technique can add a lot of depth, dimension and drama to any project and can be added to even the simplest of projects to create more interest.

Joanna Marsh of Kustom Kwilts and Designs demonstrated awesome couching techniques with her Janome Memory Craft 8900QCP Special Edition. In her tutorial below, Joanna shows you how to couch with a simple zig zag stitch; decorative stitches; free motion quilting and more!

    Burlap Table Runner Project

Janome Artisan Maday Delgado of Free Spirit Designs by Maday made a beautiful and unique table runner for the summer using the Memory Craft 500E and her brand-new Horizon Memory Craft 9400. She put together a helpful tutorial below for you to create one for your patio or kitchen table.

“This is my all-time favorite month living in the Midwest. It is filled with abundant green and the promise of summer gatherings and carefree days.

I continue to fall in love with embroidery because the possibilities are endless. Exploring the built-in features of the MC500E continue to be a source of inspiration and creativity. I am ready to venture into additional embroidery techniques and am excited to share this project with you all.

It is gratifying to upcycle materials and giving something used a new life. This table runner features fabric scraps and a burlap coffee bag. The outcome says it all – beauty and environmental consciousness.” – Maday
