Winner of the Contest
During the months of May and June, we hosted the #JanomeQuilts contest where talented enthusiasts submitted photos of creative quilted projects made on a Janome sewing machine. Out of 523 entries, Pat D. from New York was the lucky winner of a Janome Fabric Bundle and Thread Kit. She picked up her prize at Olean Sewing Center, Inc. in Olean, NY.
"I made my first quilt nearly 40 years ago for my then-toddler son. I have made upwards of 70 or so quilts since that time, most since retiring six years ago. I enjoy making bed-size quilts and do both machine and hand quilting, depending on the intended recipient.
Our church began a quilt ministry earlier this year, which I coordinate and teach beginning quilters the basics. Since we began in March, we have distributed eight quilts, seven of which went to the Fort McMurray Alberta fire victims, and are currently working on four baby quilts for three church members and one missionary family from our local church.
I learned free motion quilting in 2012, the same year I purchased the Janome Horizon Memory Craft 7700QCP machine that I currently work on." - Pat D.
