Monogrammed Guest Towels

By Milinda Stephenson

"I love Downtown Abbey, especially when the camera pans a sunny bedroom and then closes in on lovely Edwardian linens replete with Cluny lace and intricate hand embroidery. My own grandmother was born in 1899 and by 1915 when my favorite novel Annie Laura's Triumph takes place, she was embroidering gorgeous linen hand towels and dresser scarves and edging them with delicate crochet.

I cannot hand embroider like my grandmother, but my Janome Skyline S9 can! I embroidered these cotton towels with built-in monograms and added the Cluny lace I ordered from the original factory in England. While my kitchen and bathroom towels aren't hand embroidered, I think they are going to make great gifts!" - Milinda Stephenson of Milinda Sews
