Technical Support Assistant

Janome America is a distributor of household and computerized sewing machines; a subsidiary of Janome Sewing Machine Company, Tokyo, Japan, who are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of home sewing machines and leaders and innovators in the home sewing industry. Janome currently has a part time opening at its corporate headquarters in Mahwah, NJ for a Technical Support Assistant in the Education Department.

Summary of Position:
The Technical Support Assistant receives and answers consumer inquires / requests regarding embroidery and long-arm software related products and services via e-mail or telephone communication and provides solutions via an existing database of prepared responses or troubleshoots the problem until a solution is available.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist consumers and Janome Dealers with technical software issues
  • Update and install software to company laptops on an ongoing basis
  • Delivering superior customer service is #1 duty and responsibility
  • Answering incoming calls and e-mails on product inquiries or complaints with provided canned answers or verified answers from supervisor
  • Assist consumers with installation, updates, downloads via telephone and email communication
  • Report possible issues and / or trends


  • Excellent computer, communication and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • High level of accuracy in work is necessary
  • Above average listening skills are strongly emphasized

  • 1-3 years customer service experience

Ideal candidate is “tech savvy” with a solid customer service background. 

Graphics software experience preferred!

Familiarity with Windows PC and Apple devices required

Hours: Monday-Friday, 5 hours per day (afternoon hours preferred)
