I have only had this machine for 6 mos. Every time I have time to sew it is a dream come true. The large work surface is great. I have made one quilt since the purchase. I have lots to learn to utilize all the stitches. The straight stitch foot and plate sew a beautiful seam. As of yet I can't find anything to say negative. The only thing I have found with all Janome's I have owned is the thickness of the fabric. Maybe something I'm doing wrong but I do pull out an old machine if I think there might be a problem. I would highly recommend this machine for anyone who doesn't need an embroidery machine.

My dream machine
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I have had this machine little over 4 months. Love it, with all the stitches and the wide work space it is my dream machine. Can't find any negatives yet but I don't plan on it. The idea you can make it quiet is another great option. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone that is looking for a great sewing only machine.

I'm in Love!
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I bought my 9400 the first day my dealer could order one for me. (May 2016) I have had only joy every time I sat down to sew with her. I love the huge bed and space to the right of the needle, the fantastic lighting - especially the pull out light in the front. I love the drop-in bobbin and the fact that the head opens for easy cleaning if I break a thread or one gets caught. The stitches are beautiful and it's sew (so) easy to use all the menus for different kinds of projects. I free-motion quilt all kinds and sizes of projects and love how she handles all the different threads I throw at her. My one suggestion it to be sure you have purple tip needles for any kind of quilting or multiple layers of fabrics. There are lots of foot choices for all kinds of free motion quilting projects - I'm not sure which one is my favorite. The multi function foot pedal is a dream with terrific sensitive response. I use the hover feature (needle down, foot up whenever you stop sewing) almost always, therefore I haven't needed the knee lift. Oh - the included 3 needle plates!! They are SOOO easy to change out - no screws to slow me down! Wow! Wow! Wow! I love the HP plate and foot set - for the fantastic even stitches it creates! I chose this machine because of the 9mm stitch width capability - notice it's not even at the top of my list of fantastic qualities this machine possesses. The stitch creator is tons of fun. Previously, my only experience with Janome was a 3160 that I bought for my daughter - so you can imagine my delight with the 9400. Best purchase of my sewing life!

Great Machine
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I have had my 9400 for almost a year now. I love this machine. Some of my favorite things about it are the extra lights, the 11 inch throat, the HP foot and plate, and the ease of use. Everything I do on this machine comes out really nice. I have made quilts of various sizes, table runners, wall hangings, and clothing. I love this machine.

I've had my Horizon Memory Craft 9400 for about 8 months. Best sewing machine I've ever owned. I never thought I would like a sewing machine better than my old Bernina(s), but this one is so much better that I just can't believe it. The Acu-Feed foot is the best even feed foot, so much so that I've actually had to relearn old habits for feeding fabric through the machine. This machine almost doesn't need ME, it's so good. I've made one quilt--actually a pattern that I received by email from Janome soon after I registered my machine. Mostly I sew clothes, and there is so much I can do now that I couldn't do before. The buttonhole gadget is a dream. I also owe a debt of thanks to my salesperson, Diane at Moore's Mission Viejo, who pointed me in the direction of this machine. I told her the kind of sewing that I do, and she took me straight to this machine (knocked it out of the park on the first at-bat). I could go on and on, but I'll just finish by saying that if you want the best, this is the way to go.

I Love My 9400
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I have had a top of the line Janome machine since 1998, and now I have the 9400. This is the best machine so far! I love every feature from the enhanced lighting to the ease of stitch selection; however, my absolute favorite part of this machine is the Professional Grade plate and foot! I love this, it gives a perfect quarter inch, and since I'm a quilter, that's important!! I have made several quilts on this machine, but also enjoy home dec sewing, making doll clothes for my little granddaughters, as well as garment sewing. This is a GREAT machine!!

Love my Janome !!!
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I love my Janome 9400!!. I have had this machine for almost 1 year and it sews like a dream. I mostly make quilts and the large work area is wonderful.. I recently tried machine quilting and though it will take a lot of practice, I find this machine will make it easier. My Janome was well worth the purchase and I would recommend it to anyone that loves to sew.

Best machine ever! I use this machine almost daily! The dual feed is the biggest reason I bought it over a year ago. With this feature I never have to worry about seams finishing even, without pining. Have been sewing for many years and use this machine for piecing and applique work. Thanks for making a super reliable, fun to use machine.

Lots of great features, some not so great
Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I have been a Janome fan since I purchased the 6600, which I still consider the finest machine I have ever owned (and I have owned a lot of different machines). I love the great lighting, the hovering food, the pop off throat plate, and the straight stitch foot and HP throat plate. I do not like how picky the machine is for needles. I have primarily used Organ needles for over 10 years, but my 9400 doesn't seem to like the regular ones, only the Janome purple tip. Otherwise it skips stitches doing binding or going over thick seams. I have also had tension problems and have had the machine serviced twice in less than a year. My reasoning is that the machine I have was one of the first. If I could trade it in, I would trade it for another 9400 and hope my experience improves. This would not keep me from recommending the machine to others. I admit, its special features have me spoiled.

I have had my machine for 1 year. I like it a lot, but I was very disappointed when I discovered that not all the stitches were in the new 8400 machine as in my 3160 which was sold to me for classes. Add previously I had the 7700 which I hated, but it had the Joining stitch that is used for Cotton Theory quilting (115). So my 3160 did not have the 115 joining stitch so I had to use stitch 37 and now stitch 37 is not on the 3160. This is a year long project I am working on. So I cannot finisha queen on the 3160 so the closest I could find was Heirloom 22. Can any if the missing stitches be added to the 9400 since there is a USB port? Is there any upgrades coming such as a laser light attachment? For the price point it is a good machine. I bought three Janome's last year and not crazy about the 3160, was iver priced and the 500E embroidery machine drags in ine side. I have had it cleaned, held up fabric and everything else I was told to do. My experience has been bittersweet.

I traded my Janome 6600 for the 9400 and I have not been sorry! I just love the extra bed space. I also love the light on it which makes it so much easier to see. I also love the touchscreen. So easy to use. I have only had it for a few months but have made many table runners and now am making a quilt. It makes me want to sew all the time! I have not had any trouble with it and would recommend it to anyone.

I have had this machine a year, and every time I use it I am blown away by what it can do. I still have a lot to learn about how to use it, but I enjoy the journey. I know I will not outgrow this machine. So far I have assembled several quilt tops, made fabric coil bowls, fidget mats and even Bridal alterations. There is nothing this machine can't do.

I previously had a memory machine (another vendor) that I purchased in 1975. I am a volunteer for a local facility in our town that provides Hospice services and quilts are provided to Hospice patients, which the family takes home after their death. When I joined the volunteer quilting group in October 2016 ( I had never made a quilt prior to October) I spent a lot of time ripping out what I sewed and became so frustrated with my old sewing machine that I almost quit sewing because it was such a struggle. My husband told me that if I really enjoyed quilting that I should purchase a new machine. I visited all the local dealers and tried different brands before purchasing my Janome Memory Craft 9400 QCP. There are so many wonderful features that are offered with this machine that makes it enjoyable to use. I especially love the way the machine threads the needle (I have problems with cataracts) and this feature was a godsend. I have to say that the 9400 has given me an opportunity to not only enjoy and look forward to sewing but it has also given me the ability to give back to my community. Thank you Janome for producing such a wonderful product!

I have only had this machine for 3 weeks, but I am totally in love with it. I got it because I wanted the scissors feature. I felt this feature would be very beneficial since I do a lot of paper piecing. It is definitely living up to my expectations. I am very happy with the way it feels when I am sewing and the larger work surface is so helpful. I have a long way to go to learn all the features, but I will get there. A wonderful machine for anyone who doesn't do embroidery.

Where has this machine been all my life?
Thursday, June 29, 2017

I have had this machine only a few months and I don't know what took me so long. I have 5, yes 5, Janome machines but this one is by far my favorite. I have made baby blankets, burp cloths and bibs so far. The decorative stitches I was able to add made them so fun and personable. My most favorite features are the thread cutter and being able to wind the bobbin without unthreading the machine and the fact I can sew on cruise control. The feature of sewing without using the foot pedal is so fantastic to me. I look forward to many hours and quilts on this machine!

What a fantastic machine! From threading to filling bobbins, stitching to LED lighting, you can't beat this machine for features and ease of use. I am so very glad that I purchased it. I admit that the cost made me step back to carefully consider whether the expenditure was worth it but worth it it is. I have never used such a nice machine before. Way to go Janome!

I just love this machine. I used to have an older Janome and this machine has so many new features. The auto cut is a blast for me and the auto down for the pressure foot are like heaven. I never had these features before and now when I use my old machines I find myself just sitting there at the machine waiting for it to do something. I took about 1 hour of sewing and now I cant imagine why I waited so long to come anduse the new technologhy. There are so many things I just love about this machine that I hate using to old one. I took my old machine , which runs perfectly still to moms so I have something to sew on at her home and now I find myself taking sewing from her house to mine to sew on the new machine. I love the large bed, and Oh the best thing is the new light that makes seeing everything so easy. I just cant say how much I am thrilled with this machine. Love at first sew!

9400 dream machine
Thursday, June 29, 2017

I previously owned the Janome 8900 for years. I bought the 9400 almost as soon as it came out as all the features that I took issue with on the 8900 had been fixed. The flat bed, the improved lighting, the ease of adjusting stitch width, tension, improved feet for free motion quilting - all have made this machine the best ever. I've owned it a year now and know that this machine is here to stay!

Love my 9400!!
Saturday, July 1, 2017

I purchased my 9400 this Spring and LOVE it!! I am so happy using it that I have made so many lovely projects -- 2 lap quilts for the my family room, 2 quilted wall hangings for my home, and 3 quilted tote bags and matching zippered purses for my friends for gifts. This machine is a dream come true for me. I am a lifelong sewer, having started on my mother's old Singer machine, now advancing to this state of the art sewing machine. I love the simple and easy to use needle threader and the automatic thread cutter. And the array of pressure feet attachments makes every sewing project so easy and professional looking. The additional lighting is such a bonus, you can really see what you are sewing, it makes a big difference. And I have had so much fun with the huge assortment of decorative stitching offered by the 9400, it really lets me do accents on each of my projects that are unique and special. I must tell you that when I bought the machine I went to the local dealer with my girlfriend, just to look, and we were both so impressed we both bought the 9400, and I bought the 500E as well! Love Janome sewing machines!

I have had the machine for 1 year and I do love it. I just wish that the instructions were more thorough. I am a beginning quilter and have not sewed before so I need more instructions on which plate to use for various projects.

I have only had my 9400 for a few months. I love how accurate the machine can be, the fact that it is powerful enough to go thru the thick materials as easily as the finest of material. I am new to quilting and still learning to use my machine, but by sewing almost each and every day I learn a little bit more. The larger throat is so nice both in piecing and quilting. Many features make this a dream machine. I am sure that the more I sew on it the better I will be.

I sew everyday now!
Saturday, July 1, 2017

I purchased this machine on May 17, 2017 at my local sewing machine dealer. It has made sewing so much easier and enjoyable for me that I found myself sitting down at my sewing machine every day. I am mainly a quilter, although I make a lot of other craft projects, bags, costumes, and things for my grandchildren. I especially appreciate all of the features related to piece working quilting which make everything so much easier. I have also to my surprise used a few of the decorative and monogramming features. Chain piecing is very easy and I am now an expert at that elusive scant quarter inch seam. I would recommend this machine to anyone who loves to quilt and who will make use of all the high-end features on this machine. The very first thing I did on this machine was to free motion quilt a baby quilt for one of my granddaughters and the 11 inch throat was especially useful.

I purchased my 9400 QCP as soon as they came out. I have had it back to the dealer 2 times for tension issues and problems with it skipping stitches when doing free motion quilting. The latest problem I am experiencing is that when I am doing piecing with the 1/4 inch foot , it is not a 1/4 inch, but is larger than that. I made this discovery when I did half a project on MC11000SE and than moved over to my 9400. I have owned Janome machines for years, starting with the MC9000. I am pretty disappointed with this machine and would actual like to return it to the dealer.

This is my sixth Janome and I'm so happy with my 9400. I am a quilter and the dual feed, auto presser foot lifter, thread cutter systems, lighting is great. The eleven inch bed space makes it so much easier to quilt a quilt. There are many great features in the 9400 has so many built in stitches to make your project your own. Love this machine.

I've had my 9400 for over 5 months and I love it. It sees like a dream. If I do have a stitching issue it's usually something I'm doing wrong. I love how custom settings are saved and it easy to recall these stitches. I like the fact that this machine comes with the extension table. My other machines do not have a knee lift and I started to not install it, but I'm glad I did. I use it all the time so that my hands can stay on the sewing. The cutter is taking me longer to get used to, but when I do use it I think how handy is that! Overall I'm pleased with my 9400. It's a great value for the price!

I have had my 9400 for a little over a year, bought it when it was first available. It is a wonderful machine. I have quilted 6 quilts on it doing both stitch in ditch and free motion. I also do ruler work and it works well with the wide ruler toe. It is also a great piecing machine.

I had the 8900 and then traded up for the 9400 for the ultimate lighting and quilting capabilities. I do enjoy the needle threader. I have used the machine applique or blanket stitch on several blocks lately. Like the thread cutter and the foot raises automatically. I still have lots to do and learn on my 9400. Thanks Janome!

Last November, I traded my Horizon 7700 (which I had owned for six years) for the 9400. I loved my 7700 and now love the 9400. I especially like the extra lighting, the wide foot pedal, the presser lifter button, and the professional grade throat plate. It sews very well and has consistent stitch quality. I also really appreciate your daily blog "Sew4Home". It always inspires me. I have made several of the projects and have learned a lot of great tips.

Love Love Love my 9400. I have had several machines over the years. This machine feels like the Cadillac of all sewing machines to me. It is precision. It is easy to learn and use. it is so versatile. I love the automatic cut and ready for the next seam; especially the dual foot pedal. I have had my 9400 for 6 months. I've had the machine for a month now. Straight stitching it worked perfectly. Decorative stitches was a problem. The stitches weren't balanced. It took a lot of adjusting to get it almost right. The top thread stills pulls to the bottom a little. Normal tension was 4.0. Tension changed to 7.4 and I must go very slow (not accustomed to that). Other features are great, scissors, knee lift, presser foot raises when use the scissors. Its easy to take to class. Still working on learning the features. Hopefully it is a workhorse, I do marathon sewing.

I love to use my Horizon Memory Craft 9400QCP. I have had it for 4 months and made a few quilts with it. It is great for piecing as well as free motion quilting since it has such a large throat space. Also, really like the HP plate and foot. I didn't really tackle learning to FMQ or applique until I purchased this machine. So glad I did because this machine gives me the confidence to try more sewing skills! I would recommend this machine to anyone who loves to sew.

I have had my 9400 for nearly a year, and I love it. I am spoiled by many of the features on it, and enjoy a number of the special stitches. When I use my smaller Janome, I am always looking for those wonderful features--and of course, they are there. I traded my 8900 in for the 9400 and don't regret it a bit. It was a good move.

My new 9400 Memory Craft is a marvelous new machine, one that I am nervously trying to learn the seemingly endless possibilities. With a large amount of charity quilting to do, a quilt show to enter, I want to say thank you to Janome for creating this machine and to our Janome dealer, Don, in Sunbury, PA, for his kind and generous support. However, my greatest support is my Janome 9400.

I traded my 6600 for this machine and table last year and have never been sorry. This year I started learning to quilt with rulers and also help with classes at my dealer. My 9400 performs so well and I really appreciate it when I see the problems people have with getting other machines adjusted to work with the free motion and rulers. I also really like the free motion acufeed for stitching in the ditch. Love my 9400

I just love this machine! Sewing is so smooth. The features are great! It is so quiet compared to my other machine. The lighting is great, I can actually see what I am sewing without straining! The needle threader is a godsend, with my arthritis and vision problems I don't know how I lied without before. My only regret is wishing I purchased it from another dealer that had classes to teach me how to use all of the features. I would love to enhance my skills by using some of the features that this machine has if I only knew how to use them. So make sure your dealer includes a few lessons. I have been on my own trying to teach myself. The machine itself is a dream come true!

I love LOVE my 9400. The 11 inch throat is just wonderful. It sew so quiet. The retractable light and additional light create a well lit area for me so sew in low light conditions. I've had the 9400 for a year now and love it more each time I use it. It's truly a pleasure to sew on. It's powerful with exceptional throat space and lighting. It stitches beautifully and the HP plate & foot produce a perfect scant 1/4" seam. The three needle plates included can be changed quickly & easily with just the pop of a button as opposed to having to unscrew them. The menu system is very easy to understand and use. I love the option to have the machine stop with the presser foot up/needle down and to be able to have my last stitch setting remembered with the option to resume that exact setting when I turn the machine on the next time. So many well thought out features with this machine. Ideal for quilting as well as general sewing.

I've been a huge Janome fan since the 6000 (1980's) and had several models since then but the 9400 beats them all...hands down! Only bought it 6 months ago and never had so much as a single hiccup, it's been absolutely problem-free, hope I don't jinx myself after saying that. The Ruler Work Kit/upgrade was supplied with my 9400 so now it's V2.10 with 4 x Ruler Feet...a great addition as I've planned another quilted jacket for Winter. Have made a variety of clothing and home decor items during this time and while I make a quilt or two now and then, quilting is not top of my list only because there aren't enough hours in the day, but even though I don't quilt often I still enjoy the extra large bed and freearm. Any chance Janome could add more hours with the next model?? I would buy that in a heartbeat. LOL Thanks to a dealer bonus pack of 10 x additional feet, the only extra I've purchased was the Acufeed Stitch-in-the-Ditch, actually I bought it for the 8900SE and transferred it to the 9400, but thanks to all the great feet included with the machine, I don't need to buy others. So many great new features on this model, it's hard to pick one or two, but I really enjoy the pull-out highlight and although I don't generally sew at night just recently I found it was very useful on an overcast day. Sure I could have kept sewing without it, but it just made things so much easier. The snap-on needle plates, bobbin loading, needle threader, remote thread cutter, large foot pedal, USB capability. The touch screen is oh-sew-easy to use and all the lights are just wonderful. these are just a few of the great features of this machine. Lastly, I hope Janome continue with the neutral colour palette, this was one reason I didn't upgrade to a 7700 a few years ago, I didn't want that bright red faceplate staring back at me all the time. Owners who want bright colours can add a vinyl skin etc but please, keep to the white case, it's so much easier on the eyes. The 9400 sits nicely amidst my other Janome machines, but puts a smile of my face every time I sew.

it's a wonderful machine, but every time I turn back on, I have to setup stitches. Since I mainly quilt, this is annoying. I can't find a way to save settings

Just purchased my Jacome 9450QCP and so excited to get started. This was a big deal for me since I am ready to retire and I switched from the Singer brands since the 1970's. The Sales-person, Cindy Thompson, spent almost two hours showing and demonstrating the different models. She also gives sewing classes on how to use the machine and showed me some of the short cuts I can do with it...so here I go!! I'll check in again in about 6 months.

Fabulous machine!

I have had my Memory Craft 9450QCP for 3 weeks, and I love it. I have nothing bad to say about this machine it has been so much fun to sew on. I look forward to coming home from work every night and sewing on it. The directions are easy to read, the settings are easy to navigate through, and the best features are the deepthroat, the added light over the needle, the table, the thread cutter, the needle threader... what else can I say. This was a Christmas gift for me and it's probably been the nicest Christmas gift I've ever had.

LOVE my 9400
Thursday, August 29, 2019

I have had a few Janome machines and I loved them all. I just purchased a 9400, and what a dream! I had a MC8900QCP, and this is like going from a wonderful machine to what every quilter dreams of! I started looking because I liked the idea of the lighting on this machine (which IS awesome), but WOW....the quietness of it, the neat, perfect stitches, the new HP plate and foot, the new needle threader and all the other wonderful Jamone feet and tools. It is a dream come true. Not sure how they will top this one!

I've been sewing on Janome machines for 22 years. Every couple of years I've upgraded my machine to get more of Janome's sewing machine capabilities. I've reached nirvana. I'm a fashion sewist sewing on a quilting machine but I love this machine. It's the sewing machine of my dreams. I love everything about it but especially the extra light, the ease in which the automatic needle threader works, how the touch front works with all of the extra information. ALL of the extra feet that are included with the sewing machine and the different throat plates. It's quiet when it sews. The extra long bed allows me to get an entire garment under the needle with ease. There are more stitches to use than I can imagine working with BUT I appreciate having them so I have room to grow. Yes, it's a quilters machine but I highly recommend that fashion sewists look at it because it will expand your abilities to create.

Sew4Home is a Janome exclusive studio so we get stitch on a variety of machines each year, rotating them out to try new models. This machine is one we fight to KEEP in rotation because it is such an all-around powerhouse. It has a large bed space with brilliant lighting from all sides, including the retractable high light, which we use all the time. It also checks all the boxes for must-have features, like an auto thread cutter, auto needle thread, and did you know it comes with a cloth guide. We love that for precision topstitching.

A machine for all your needs

Originally I was going to get the M7 but my space would not accommodate it. When I consulted with the experts, they assured me that this machine had just as much power and capability. As a cosplayers, i work with a lot of different types of fabrics. Vinyl, silk, faux fur, denim, cotton, jersey.. and this machine handles them all effortlessly. Delicate enough to add decorative stitches to linen and tough enough to sew through 4+ layers of outdoor fabrics, it has surpassed my expectations. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to elevate their stitch-craft!

Fabulous machine!

I chose this machine to use as a Janome Maker as a result of falling in love with it from being provided in the classrooms where I teach. I seriously love the very large work tray and since the majority of my work/designs involve curved piecing - the pivot (or hover) feature is fabulous! As I work my curves, I no longer have to stop and manually manipulate my fabrics - the pivot foot allows me to go quickly and accurately around the curves!! There's so many built in stitches too! I am looking forward to incorporating some of those into my curved pieces! The instructional DVD is super helpful. I think it's great that Janome is so supportive of the quilting industry. No matter what your budget or skillset, there is a machine for you!

Professional and accurate workhorse with tons of bells and whistles

Love this machine. I wanted a machine with all the bells and whistles while also being able to take it in my trolley on long retreat weekends. There is nothing better than the accuracy of this machine. The lighting is worth a million dollars. Love the pull out light on the front which points right where I need it. Love the hp2 acufeed foot my all time favorite. I get perfect 1/4 with this foot. This machine is a great price point for the fantastic machine.
