The embroidery for this mini quilt utilizes a quotation from Mahatma Gandhi: “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.” The embroidery itself mixes together the letters from the quotation with the Braille characters for those letters. The mini will finish to 24” x 24”. Thomas Knauer of ThomasKnauerSews.com brings you this design.

Instructions:
- Center your well-stabilized neutral fabric in your 230 x 230 hoop and embroidery. Once the embroidery is complete tear away all the stabilizer, trim the connecting threads, and press. Trim the fabric down to 10.5” x 10.5”. Find the embroidery diagram below.
- Piece together your strips of color based on Diagram #1. Always use a 1/4” seam; I live by my 1/4” foot.
A = 2.5” x 2.5”
B = 4.5” x 2.5”
C = 6.5” x 2.5”
D = 8.5” x 2.5”
E = 10.5” x 2.5”
F = 12.5” x 2.5”
G = 14.5” x 2.5”
H = 16.5” x 2.5”
- Piece the top for your mini according to Diagram #2 starting with strip #1 and finishing with strip #14. Your top is now complete.
- If you are piecing your back, do so now, make sure to make it a several inches larger than the top. If you are using a single color 28” square should be plenty large.
- Assemble your quilt sandwich (back, batting, top) and baste as desired. For minis I generally spray baste.
- Quilt as desired; I chose to mirror each piece in a contrasting thread color.
- Bind using your preferred method.
