Baby Boy’s Shortall

Summer is almost here and according to Janome Artisan Milinda Stephenson, “Nothing says summer like the beach scenes of renowned artist Paul Brent. When I discovered his fabulous fabric collection (this one is from his Coastal Breeze collection at Moda) I couldn’t wait to sew this baby boy shortall. I sewed the outfit, embroidered the monogram and the applique all using the fabulous Horizon Memory Craft 15000. I used the machine’s built-in designs for the monogram and embroidered the whale applique on the back, just for fun.” You can find the instructions and a free design download for Milinda’s whale applique below. Included is also an SVG file to cut out the whale applique using the Artistic Edge Digital Cutter.

  2. Mark where you want the whale applique to be placed on your project and center your project in the hoop.
  3. Sew color 1. This is the placement line for the whale applique.
  4. Fit the whale applique over the placement line. Sew color 2 which is the sew down line for applique.
  5. Sew color 3; the applique stitch; whale’s eye and the water coming fromt the spout.
