This quick project is great for an easy sew, and for getting all of those pins you collected at quilt con in one spot!

Hello friends, Let’s make a wall pendant together for all of those pins we got at quilt con!

I am using another orphan quilt block for this project, but if you are using just a solid piece of fabric I’ve measured mine as 10” x 15” Any size works, just make sure your batting and backing fabric are also the same size.

I have my front fabric, back fabric and Ive decided to use stabilizer to make mine a bit more sturdy but quilt batting works just as well and gives it a more softer feel.

I have folded my bottom corners in, meeting in the middle to create my pendant shape.

I used a hot iron to press the corners up but using a ruler or drawing a line with a fabric pencil works just as well.

When trimming the fabric down to shape, I have also left in my 1/4 seam allowance.

Next, we are going to add our stabilizer or batting to one side of our banner fabric. I added stabilizer to the front of my banner, following the directions on the stabilizer package. If you are using batting, spray-baste it to keep it in place.

To hang our banner, we’re going to make a long tube for our dowel rod. With our 2” x 13”, Fold the dowel pocket piece in half, with the short ends lined up and right sides together. Sew along the short edges to join. Turn right sides out. Center the seam and press both edges well. Fold in half so the long edges are touching. Press well.

Along the top of our front fabric, center the dowel pocket piece along the top edge, with right sides together, line up the raw edges.

If adding in your pom poms or trim, pin or baste to the front of your banner. I added gold trim to my block.

Take extra care that your pom poms or trim is sandwiched between your fabrics when sewing together.

With right sides together, pin your front and back fabrics together. Leaving a small gap for turning your piece right sides out.

With a 1/4 seam allowance, sew your pieces together. Turn your banner right sides out once finished.
