Step 1:

  • Sew color 1 (the reverse applique heart outline)

Trim the Heart:

  • Remove the hoop from the machine, but leave the embroidery in the hoop.
  • Using a pair of sharp embroidery scissors, cut out the heart a 1/4″ inside of the stitching line, being careful not to cut the heart fabric.

Step 2: Insert and Sew Down the Reverse Applique Heart

  • Attach the hoop with the heart cut-out.
  • Sew color 2 (applique tack down and applique stitch)

Step 3:

  • Place the hoop back on the machine.
  • Sew color 3 (the heart outline)

Step 4:

  • Sew color 4 (flowers)

Step 5:

  • Place the backing fabric on top of the entire embroidery.
  • Sew color 5 (backing)

Step 6:

  • Remove from the hoop.
  • Trim the fabric.
  • Clip the curves.
  • Turn right side out.
  • Stuff with equal parts of lavender and fiberfill.
  • If you wish, place a drop of lavender oil on the fiberfill.
  • Hand sew the opening used for turning and stuffing.
  • Trim as you wish: sew a button to the top and attach a ribbon for hanging on a door knob.
