I love you like… String Pouch

I take my little girl to the park every Thursday after school. All the moms bring little snacks; a bag of carrots, watermelon, chips or homemade rice crispy bars. We gather them on one table and kids just grab whatever they like to have. This Thursday event inspired me to make a snack bag. This yummy snack bag has always loved by little kids.

One square, 8cm (3in) x 8cm (3in)
6. From the floral print, cut:
Two rectangles, 8cm (3in) x 10cm (4in)

Assembly
Place 3in square fabric atop the strawberry print (3in square), facing right sides, sew all the way
around.
Clip the center of the fabric scrap about 1 in using a pair of scissors and turn right side out
through the slip. Press in shape.
Using 2 strands of brown embroidery floss, hand stitch on the linen . (see the diagram.)

2. Transfer the design on the linen. Cut out all the fabric accent pieces from fabric scraps.
Glue the fabric accents in place. Place the stabilizer on the wrong side of the linen. Secure
the fabric accents to the background by stitching
about 1/8in inside the edge of each piece. Thread the sewing machine with brown thread.
Stitch around each fabric accent, very close to the edge. Sew along the design.
Hand stitch the words “I love you like…” using 3 strands of red embroidery floss.
3. Center a heavy weight interfacing (7 1/2in x 3in) on the wrong side of the floral print, sew
around 1/8in inside to secure.
4. Sew the two pieces of linen to each 10 1/2in side of the floral print fabric. Press the seams
toward the center. Topstitch using special stitch from your sewing machine.
5. Fold the outer bag fabric in half, matching the short ends. Sew along side edges together.
6. Take the bottom corners of the bag and fold them so that the side and bottom seams run
down the center, creating a point. Measure down 1 1/2in from the point, mark, and draw a
line perpendicular to the side seam. Sew right on t he drawn line.
7. Referring to the diagram, carefully remove 1in stitch from each sides for the string insert.
Press the seams toward the center and topstitch 1/8 in around the string inserts.
8. Sew the bag lining in the same manner as the outer bag.
9. Slip the lining into the outside bag, wrong sides together.
10. Fold the top edge of the lining to the inside, leaving 1/2in of lining showing at the top. Pin
and press. Hand stitch the lining in place, using a slip stitch.
11. Fold two floral print (3in x 4in) in half, matching short ends, sew a tube. Fold out the right
side in half. Running stitch 1/4in inside of the end of raw edge and do not cut the thread.
12. Thread the cord through the channel at the top of the pouch. Tie the ends of the cord in a
knot. Slide in the tube and pull the thread and secure multiple times.
13. Fill with poly-fill and stitch the opening close by hand.
