Jelly Roll Day Inspiration

September is my favorite month – National Sewing Month, my birthday, Talk Like a Pirate Day and National Jelly Roll Day!! I joined forces with a few other quilt pattern designers to celebrate this holiday with The Great Jelly Roll Bash.

Our annual tradition is to create five new 2½” strip-friendly patterns. On National Jelly Roll day (the third Saturday in September), we host a live event where we sew, learn handy hacks to make that year’s patterns, play games AND give away awesome quilty prizes.

I’m here to help you find the perfect pattern for you to make this year (or any year really). So here are some options for you!

2026 Pattern

The 2026 bundle promises to be just as awesome (if not more so) as years past. The pattern I contributed for 2026, Starcourt, was a spin-off of my Celestial Nova block from our Celestial Twilight Summer Block Party. Most of my quilts have blocks that make great coordinating throw pillow covers. Celestial Nova provides that option for this pattern.

Fun fact… Did you know “jelly roll” was created by Moda Fabrics? Riley Blake Designs calls them rolie polies and Art Gallery Fabrics calls them strip rolls. No matter what you call them, you’ll be rolling in the fun!

How many rolls are in your stash? What is your favorite quilt you’ve made with a roll? Please share with me on Instagram, Facebook or by email!
