Instructions
Step One:
Cut from printed fabric:
(2) 3 1/2” x 6”
(1) 6” x 9”
(2) 2” x 2”
Cut from solid fabric:
(1) 3 1/2” x 6”
Cut from Batting
(1) 6” x 9”
(3) 3 1/2” x 6”
Step Two:
Layer the solid fabric on top of one of the 3 1/2” x 6” pieces of batting. Baste with safety pins if necessary and sew using the preferred stitches from your Janome Skyline S7 straight lines across. You can sew up and down or from one side to the other. Layer two of the printed fabrics on top of the other coordinating batting, baste with safety pins if necessary and “quilt” these pieces using unique stitches as well.
Step Three:
Sew the three pieces together using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Repeat Step Two for the back.
Step Four
Press two of the raw edges of the 2″ x 2″ squares towards the center and then fold and press the folded edges together. Place these on the ends of your zipper and top stitch.
Step Five:
Layer in this order and align at the top: front piece right side up, zipper right side down, lining right side down. Pin and sew in place.
Repeat for the back piece.
Step Six:
Unzip the zipper about half way and align the front and back right sides together and the lining pieces right sides together. Pin and sew around the three open edges. Leave about a 3″ opening in the lining for turning.
Step Seven:
Add gussets to each corner by aligning the side seam with the bottom seam (with right sides still facing and marking 1″ from the point using a straight line. Sew across this line and cut the excess fabric in the corner. Repeat this for the remaining three corners.
Step Eight:
Turn the zip pouch to the right side through the hole you left in the lining. Carefully top stitch the opening closed and press your zip pouch.
