I replaced my base sewing maching you can get anywhere with a Skyline S7 best money I ever spent. I watched a video of someone explaining how your not bad at sewing you have a cheap machine. After much research I realized Janome was a superior brand. I love it so much, it has removed lots of frustration for me and the thread cutter may seem like a small feature but I love it so much. I just had it’s 1 year service and had to go back to my old machine and I had so many problems of fabric punching and birds nests of thread on the bottom, the old machine struggled with even a modest number of layers of fabric. I think If I hadn’t got this machine I would have quit but with all the automatic features I very rarely even have to think about my settings. My mom has sewn her whole life and never spent more than a couple hundred dollars on a machine but she has been doing all her sewing at my house and is thinking about getting one

I love my Skyline S7. I’m new to quilting and bought this as soon as I knew it was a hobby I love enough to keep doing. The price made me cringe at first but once I started actively using it, it was worth every penny. It makes quilting and sewing so much more enjoyable now that I’m not using a lower quality machine I threw in my cart at Costco. And I love that it’s got enough bells and whistles that I can grow into it. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the user manual. I just have one word, Janome…. INDEX. The user manual doesn’t have to teach me how to sew, but it should at least have an index at the back so a newbie can cross reference names of common stitches with the page number of the foot/feet used for the stitch/technique. Something that makes it a little more comprehensive for us newbies.
