Oven Mitts:
You Will Need
- White rose fabric: Fat quarter
- Navy rose fabric: Fat quarter
- Lining: 1/2 yard
- Blue binding: 1/4 yard
- Stripe binding: 1/4 yard
- Insulated batting: 1/2 yard such as Insul-Bright
- Oven Mitt Pattern
- Cotton label (optional)
Finished size: 13’’ x 7’’
Notes:
- Seam allowances are 1/4’’ unless otherwise noted.
- RST = right sides together
- WST = wrong sides together

Cutting out
- From white rose fabric, cut:
- one (1) 14’’ x 8’’
- one (1) 13’’ x 8’’
- From navy rose fabric, cut:
- one (1) oval template (outer line)
- From lining, cut:
- one (1) 15’’ x 9’’
- one (1) 14’’ x 9’’
- one (1) oval template (outer line)
- From insulated batting, cut:
- two (2) 15’’ x 9’’
- two (2) 14’’ x 9’’
- three (3) 10 1/2’’ x 8 1/2’’
- From stripe binding fabric, cut:
- one (1) 3’’ x WOF
- From blue binding fabric, cut:
- one (1) 1 1/2’’ x WOF
Quilting
1. Sandwich white rose fabric, 2 layers of insulated batting and lining WST, pin in place and quilt as desired. I quilted straight vertical lines 1’’ apart. Trace the template A and sew 1/8’’ inside all the way aprond. Trim the excess. Repeat for the template B piece.
*tip: If you want to sew cotton label, sew to the A piece about 2 1/2’’ below from the straight edge, centrally.

2. Place the oval template on the 3 layers of 10 1/2’’ x 8 1/2’’ insulated batting. Trace the the template red dotted line and sew through the line. Sew the horizontal line for easy folding when wear the oven mitt. Cut out the excess batting very close from the sew line.

3. lace the batting from step 2 on the wrong side of navy rose fabric, centrally. Place lining on the batting with right side up.

4. Pin in place and zigzag stitch through the layers.

Assembling
1. RST, place the oval piece to A piece matching A edges together. Hold together using binding clips. Matching remain B edges, pin the B peice to the oval piece.


2. Sew the round edges together. And then sew the remain side layers together.

3. Take 1 1/2’’ x WOF blue binding strip, bind the B round edges as the picture.

4. Bind the remains raw edges. Fold the raw edges of binding and topstitch to finish the binding.
*skip sewing the bulky part as it’s tricky to machine sew.

5. Hand stitch the unsown bindings as the picture.

Finishing
1. Turn right side out. Draw horizontal line 3/4’’ from oven mitt opening. RST, place the stripe binding aligning the marked line. Sew the binding to the oven mitt. Now binding width is 1’’. Press and hand stitch or machine sew to finish binding. You can adjust the width of binding if you wish.
Potholder
You will need:
Navy rose fabric: 10’’ square
- White rose fabric: 10’’ square
- Insulated batting: Fat quarter such as Insul-Bright
- Binding: 2 1/2 x WOF
- Cotton label (optional)
Finished size: 8’’ x 8’’
Cutting Out
- From white rose fabric, cut:
- one (1) 8 1/2’’ x 8 1/2’’
- From navy rose fabric, cut:
- one (1) 9 1/2’’ x 9 1/2’’
- From insulated batting, cut:
- two (2) 9’’ x 9’’
Quilting
- Sandwich white rose fabric, 2 layers of insulated batting and navy rose fabric WST, pin in place and quilt as desired. I quilted criss-cross lines 1/2’’ apart.
- Trim to 8’’ x 8’’. Using a spool trace four round corners. Trim the excess batting.
Binding
- Take a binding strip and fold in half lengthwise, WST. Press. Place the folded binding strip to the potholder, matching raw edges. Sew the binding and fold the binding to the back and hand stitch to finish.
- Attach the cotton label on one corner. (optional)
