Graphic Design Assistant

Janome currently has a full time opening at its headquarters in Mahwah, NJ for a Graphic Design Assistant in the Marketing Department.

Summary of Position:  The Graphic Design Assistant provides best media practices support for Janome America’s marketing efforts.  The Graphic Design Assistant works with the Marketing department staff to develop media content for advertisements, collateral materials, POS, special events materials and some packaging.  Designs and promotional materials can be utilized both nationally and internationally. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the design, creation, editing, layout, photo shooting and/or proof projects including promotional and advertising material
  • Assist in the development of graphics, layouts and product illustrations for catalogs, brochures, social media, and websites, based on set guidelines and esthetic visual principals. 
  • Assist in the creation and execution of online marketing initiatives (e.g. landing pages, eblasts, on-line sweepstakes, banner advertising, etc.)
  • Shoot product photographs in-house. Retouch photos. 
  • Assist with other marketing projects, as needed

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Media Services or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-2 years advertising support experience and a general understanding of advertising a plus
  • Experience with using Content Management Systems
  • Basic interest in sewing, quilting or any type of crafting. 
  • Retail experience is desired and preferred

  Skills: 

  • Effective listening and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Creative and design capabilities
  • MAC and PC proficient
  • Basic HTML knowledge
  • Competency in Adobe Creative Cloud Applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; additional knowledge in Dreamweaver, Lightroom, Premiere and After Effects are a plus
  • Strong understanding of print production
  • Ability to understand marketing and branding strategy and translate to design

Marketing Coordinator

Summary of Position:  Coordinate and implement marketing strategies by developing various elements essential for growth of the company. The Marketing Coordinator will focus on market research, merchandising, campaign drives, social media coordination, and development of point of sale materials.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in writing and editing sales and marketing materials, which include articles, presentations, and collateral.
  • Provide assistance in creating and enhancing the annual and monthly campaign list.
  • Perform market research, analyze trends, dealer’s marketing needs and competitor offerings and make recommendations to management.
  • Submit ideas for point of sale material and product displays to increase the growth of the company’s notions and accessories business, research vendor capability and cost
  • Contribute to the company’s various social media efforts, submit content, and keep sites updated and fresh.
  • Provide administrative aid for various projects related to marketing, which includes monthly promotions, minutes of marketing meetings, transcribe notes and compose memos, circulate to appropriate personnel in U.S. and Japan. 
  • Prepare press releases and other company announcements on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Update company headlines and news on the corporate website.
  • Assist in promotional strategies and product development.
  • Manage marketing and media event schedules for company’s marketing programs.
  • Validate and fulfill requests for information and marketing, tracking e-mails and requests.
  • Track existing marketing campaigns and develop ways to improve those campaigns
  • Assist in the development of marketing collateral and web content
  • Work with proprietary CMS system to manage customer & item data, pull sales data, and track promotions

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent - combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, 1-2 years advertising support
  • Experience and a general understanding of marketing and advertising
  • Strong writing skills
  • Basic interest in sewing, quilting or any type of crafting. 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Retail experience is desired and preferred!

Service/Video Production Technician

Summary of Position: The Service/Video Production Technician (SVPT) is responsible for servicing and repairing computerized, electronic, and mechanical sewing machines. The SVPT is also responsible for the video production of technical video shoots from start to finish.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Repair and service a pre-determined number of machines per day under direction of the Service Director
  • Working knowledge of all software and computer connected products
  • Responsible for producing, shooting, and editing technical videos
  • Ability to work overtime (occasionally on a weekend) during busy times of the month and year
  • Ability to lift 65 lbs.

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • 3 years of sewing machine repair experience or applicable field
  • 3 years of video production experience, shooting technical videos from start to finish
  • Comfort level communicating in an email environment
  • College degree or applicable technical school certificate
  • Strong mechanical background and technical skills 
  • Technical experience with sewing machines
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical and electronic components
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical videos, from concept to delivery 
  • Experience with digital, audio/video production
  • Proficiency in motion graphics, animation, photography, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with the Adobe Platform of products (Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop)

Education/Experience: College degree or applicable technical school certificate. Vocational technical training a plus. Previous technical experience and familiarity with the mechanics and repair of sewing machines is preferred. Familiarity with computers including Windows, Excel and using email; Experience using hand tools. Experience producing technical videos, from concept to delivery is a must!
