Video: Putting On An Extra Large Button With The Transparent Buttonhole Foot

How do you put on buttons that are too big for your automatic button foot?

Big buttons are a perennial fashion accent for clothing, accessories, and home decor. (If oversize buttons aren't in style while you're reading this, just wait about 15 minutes.)

But to actually function as a closure, Extra Large buttons need Extra Large button holes.

If you've looked at your sewing machine's automatic buttonhole foot, you can see there's a limit to the size of button it can make a hole for. So for Extra Large buttons there's the Transparent Buttonhole Foot (or Buttonhole Foot Transparent). It works in conjunction with the automatic buttonhole function available on several Janome machines.

To learn how easy it is to use this foot, watch the Buttonhole Foot Transparent Video: Putting On An Extra Large Button.

In this short video you'll see how you how to use the Transparent Buttonhole Foot on a Memory Craft 11000 Special Edition. Instead of putting your button into a sliding sensor, you measure it and enter the dimensions into your sewing machine. After sewing the buttonhole as demonstrated in the video, you would then carefully open it with sharp scissors.

Once you have your Extra Large Buttonhole sewn, you'll want to sew on your Extra Large button using the Button Sewing Foot.
