buttonhole problem on sewist 500
Hi, I'm a beginner and thought I'd give buttonholes a try. My woven fabric is interfaced.

When I use the automatic buttonhole foot R, the buttonhole is sometimes only partially completed. The machine seems to get stuck, especially after completing the back bartack. The needle will keep stitching but the fabric won't move and I'll get a big ball of stitched thread sitting in the corner of the incomplete buttonhole.

When I tried to sew a manual buttonhole using foot B, that didn't work, either. At my manual's step 4, it says to click the buttonhole lever toward you, then continue sewing the back bartack. My machine just keeps sewing straight. No buttonhole in sight.

I tried all sorts of things for both problems and can't seem to solve this. Is there an obvious solution I'm missing? Thanks for any help.

Check with your dealer, but there is a stabilizer plate for those "R" feet and it will/should eliminate that problem where the fabric gets stuck.
