1000CPX foot pedal and issues

I have a brand new CoverPro 1000CPX and am wondering if something could be wrong with the foot pedal. It is plugged into the machine and wall outlet correctly. When depressing the pedal, the machine buzzes and I have to press the pedal almost to the floor to get it to sew. Then it takes off extremely fast and is uncontrollable. Does this sound normal? Thanks for any advice.

I think that you need to take it back to see what is wrong. Something is not connecting as you should get it to sew without "putting the pedal to the metal" so to speak. These machines do hesitate and buzz a bit before they start - not like the electronic sewing machines that start immediately but more like the old machines of 40 or 50 years ago.
