Using the Horizon Memory Craft 9400, Janome Artisan Sarah Smith made these beautiful Modern Winter Placemats and Table Runner for the upcoming holiday season. They are the perfect addition to warm up your kitchen or dining room table.

Sarah mentions that it is important to measure the size of your table before sewing and quilting. The placemats Sarah made are measured at 14” x 17 ¼” and the table runner is measured at 15” x 36”.

Learn About the New Anna Maria Horner Machine

Over the past few years, we have launched some great machines that are complementary to a variety of talents. Since early September, we have been sharing MC9400 and Skyline S9 machine reviews and projects from our awesome team of Artisans. At the beginning of October, we were excited to launch the new Anna Maria Horner M100 sewing machine – designed by Janome’s Spokesperson Anna Maria Horner herself. Meredith Daniel of Olivia Jane Handcrafted was excited to post the very first AMH M100 review and provided us with a gorgeous Pegasus Pillow Tutorial using the vibrant colors and warm patterns from Anna Maria’s fabric lines. 

Meredith mentions in her review that she has used the AMH M100 exclusively since has received it. She has made quilts, garments, home décor and bags on this machine. Meredith also adds that the machine is suitable for anyone from a beginner to a seasoned sewist.

Some of Meredith’s favorite features on the AMH M100 are the diverse range of 100 built-in stitches. She notes that you get those specialty finishing stitches that many machines at this price point lack. It is also easy to find the stitch you want. Meredith also loves the thread cutter that is built into the machine.

Machine Review and Fun Thanksgiving Project

When we asked Janome Artisan Jen Schumann of iCandy Handmade to give our new Skyline S9 a try, she couldn’t have been more excited! From Jen’s experience with both the Skyline S5 and Skyline S7, she knew right away that the S9 would be amazing. She also never had an embroidery machine before, so she was super excited to finally give it a try for the first time.

Since Jen was used to doing regular sewing, she decided to get out of her comfort zone and try the embroidery functions. She made a beautiful and fun Mexican fiesta style apron for Thanksgiving. Jen also mentions that the Anna Maria Horner Limited Edition Embroidery Collection box that was sent to her had everything she needed to create the beautiful embroidery design on her apron. Jen also noted that she used the wonderful built-in designs in the S9.

Jen mentions at the bottom of her review that it was a fun and easy project using the Skyline S9. She does also mention that there were a couple of scary moments when her fabric got caught, but she was able to quickly fix it.
