Laced Color Block Dress by Merrick

Using the Janome Skyline S5 sewing machine, Maker Merrick White of Merrick's Art made this pretty color blocked lace dress for Valentine's Day after seeing a similar Betsey Johnson dress at Nordstrom. 

This dress is perfect, unique and feminine for a Valentine's Day date and it also makes for a gorgeous Easter dress in a few months. You could make it in shades of pink and blush, like Merrick did, or in greens, blues, purples or yellows for a more festive spring look.

Monogrammed Oven Mitts by Sew4Home

For Sew4Home's first project of the New Year, they chose the Flourish Alphabet Monogram that is built into the Janome Memory Craft 500E. The beautiful embroidery was done with three colors of Aurifil 50wt cotton thread. This is a great gift for yourself or a friend who either just got married, moved into a new home or even renovated their kitchen. 

Sew4Home mentions that the embroidered letter is optional, but the embroidery against the solid color fabric is a wonderful way to customize the look. These great mitts are sufficient for most hot dishes and general baking. Each mitt finishes at approximately 12 1/2" long and 7 1/2" wide.
